Whelppp I have been pretty quiet over on the blog the past 3 months after getting some EXCITING NEWS!! These crazy Crawfords are having their FIRST BABY (besides our fur babies, of course), due January 22!! With pregnancy comes overwhelming joy and excitement, but with severe nausea comes a serious lack of social media. I am soo glad to finally be able to look at my computer screen again and SHARE THE GREAT NEWS!
I decided to put together some frequently asked questions I have gotten and share my pregnancy story (so far) with you! So here it goes...
Side Note: these pics you are about to see make my heart burst with so much happiness and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have :)
Were You Guys Trying And For How Long?
That’s always a fun yet intrusive question if we had not in fact been trying. I am totally guilty of asking people if they had been trying and have gotten comments back along the lines of “it's not my business”...I know, I need to work on that. Lucky for you guys, I am not offended at all with this questions and the answer to it is YES! We got pregnant on our fifth month of trying after finally letting go of what we could not control and letting God take over.
Five months really is not that long but it felt like an eternity in the beginning, and I know any of you that are trying right now can totally relate to this. I mean you only get ONE WEEK each month to make it happen and then you have to just wait another month before you can try again. It can be TORTURE to wait (especially if you are impatient like me).
The crazy thing of it all was that I had decided to not run the Nashville half marathon because I did not want to mess up my chances of getting pregnant. After four months of trying, I decided I am done trying to control this situation and decided to finally let go. I signed up for the half marathon the month before the race and decided to wing it (and struggle) with my hubby all the way to the finish line. I was supposed to be ovulating the weekend of the race and decided I am probably ruining all chances of getting pregnant this month but if it is supposed to happen then God will make it happen. I didn’t even think I ovulated that month, silly ovulation kit testing. Turns out when you actually let go, great things happen. THIS WAS THE MONTH WE GOT PREGNANT and I will forever be grateful for a God that is in control so that I don’t ever have to be!!
How Have You Been Feeling?
This is week 15 for me and I can happily say that I feel great with baby the size of an avocado!! Weeks 6-10 were pretttyyyy rough with chronic nausea the whole way through the month but luckily I haven’t had any of that since then. I had some random sciatic pain that only lasted a day or two and I hope it stays away for good now! The only real noticeable symptoms in the second trimester is the frequency of urination (which is OUT OF CONTROL) and the belly bloat (I mean bring on the cute baby belly because this beer belly has got to go)!
Have You Had Any Serious Cravings?
I really haven’t had any cravings yet. I had a lot of food aversions in the beginning and one of those being coffee (I know, shocker...but your body is smarter than you are when it comes to growing and protecting a baby). I am finally able to drink coffee again but really only drink about half a cup before I am over it.
Have You Been Able To Exercise?
Ever since the nausea stopped I have been able to exercise pretty consistently but before that the couch was the only workout I got. For the past month and a half, I have continued with my weight training and cardio exercises and adding in some Pilates reformer classes once a week. I walk with my neighbor (who is due with her sweet baby boy in a few weeks) and try to run where there are bathrooms close by (because this frequent urination is no joke, you guys). I am hoping to keep it up as long as baby will let me so fingers crossed for that! Also, I read that babies of moms who exercise throughout pregnancy score higher, on average, on general intelligence tests by age 5. Soooo, YOU’RE WELCOME BABY. #SmartBabyBrainForTheWin
Are You Finding Out The Sex?
If you know me at all then you know that I am terrible at surprises. Therefore, you should know that OF COURSE we are finding out the sex!! I mean I am having trouble waiting a few more weeks, I can’t imagine waiting nine whole months (hey, but good for you mammas that can wait that long...teach me your ways). We are doing a little family gender reveal party in the next few weeks and then will share the news with all of you! Staches or lashes? Tutus or ties? Wheels or heels? Cupcake or stud muffin??? I have no idea but I CANT WAIT TO FIND OUT!
That is all the questions I could really think of but feel free to message me with any questions you have...I am an open book, folks.
I love my little family so much already and I am sooo excited to see it grow!!! We are just going to keep trusting the Lord through this new phase and praying it will all work out just like already has so far!
Also, how handsome is my hubby??? Lucky for us, he was the cutest baby ever! Me, on the other hand, not so much! I blame it on the bad photo angles for giving me 5 chins as a baby, but let's just say I may not be showing you ALL of my baby pics on here. Maybe I will show you some for good laughs later, mayyyybe. But hey, at least my mom thought I was the cutest baby ever!
I hope to keep you guys updated throughout this crazy journey so get ready for some more baby updates and posts. I promise my blog won’t turn into ONLY baby talk though, don’t worry!
